Jim Pomeroy

Jim Pomeroy was responsible for many first in both indoor and outdoor motorsports. He was born November 16, 1952 in Washington. Jim and racing were meant to be from the beginning. His father was a successfull racer in the 50s and 60s, and his younger siblings also were involved in motorcycling. Performing in flat tracks, hillclimbs, and hare scramble events, the Pomeroy family made sure to make their mark on the sport. In 1980 he, or maybe more accurrately, his body, decided to retire from professional motocross racing. In 1987, Jim was a passenger in a vehicle that cause serious injury to his back. Still unwilling to leave the sport completely, he taught in motocross schools and made apearances at many vintage and club events. Sadly on August 6, 2006 Pomeroy was involved in a jeep accident in washington and was killed. For more info on Jim and his inspirational carreer, visit the motorcycle hall of fame website here.
